By train:

Take the Hudson Line to the Metro North Poughkeepsie Station and then pick the option that works best for you:

Free Shuttle: Show your Metro-North ticket at River Station, a popular eatery across from the Poughkeepsie Station, for a 25% discount off your meal. Then hop on the free Walkway shuttle that the restaurant provides to its patrons. Once you’ve strolled and photographed your fill, the shuttle will return you to the station for your trip home. Walk: The new Walkway Over the Hudson State Historic Park Elevator provides a direct connection from the Poughkeepsie waterfront to the Walkway State Historic Park bridge.  Check out the Walkway Gateway sign located in the Visitor Information area of the Poughkeepsie station!  Exit the train station at the Water Street exit. Walk North on Water Street until you see the gates to Upper Landing Park.  Use the elevator entrance at Upper Landing Park to make your way onto the bridge.  No more than a 5 minute walk!

On East side of the River (Poughkeepsie): take Route 9 to Route 9G north (Marist Drive). Bear right onto Washington Street. Proceed on Washington Street for 0.5 miles. Turn left on Route 9G/Parker Avenue and proceed to lot on left. 

On West side of the River (Highland): Take Route 9W to Haviland Road.

Parking Locations: Parking and entranceways can be found in several locations.

1) At 87 Haviland Road, Highland, NY (Ulster County), parking is allowed along the north side of the road, with ADA-compliant handicapped parking spaces at the entrance to the bridge.

2) At 61 Parker Avenue, Poughkeepsie (Dutchess County) there is an 80 car NYS parking lot, with ADA-compliant handicapped parking provided. There is a $5 fee to park in this lot.

3) At Pulaski Park, Washington Street, Poughkeepsie (Dutchess County) there is limited free parking. This park is one block north of the bridge. There is a stairway from Washington Street directly to the bridge entrance.

4) Some City of Poughkeepsie streets in the vicinity of the Walkway (please check parking signs carefully).

Empire Passports are sold in the Park Office and are accepted in both NYS parking lots. The Golden Park Pass does not apply at the Walkway.
